    Given that so many of the unemployed are above the age of 50, we should consider lowering the age for starting the maximum benefits.  If people over 60 had a basic subsistence income from Social Security, they could start some self employment / small business for extra money.  Then they would be paying taxes back into the system and contributing to the economy.  Insufficient Social Security is like insufficient stimulus.
