I live in IN, my sister and brother-in-law are in their 70's, voted for Nixon TWICE and did really admire and vote for Obama.  Like me, they have been independents all their lives and like me they are totally disgusted with Republicans.  There is one excellent Republican state senator we might vote for, but that's it.

If they hear anyone bash Obama they speak out right then and there.  They are church goers, very lovable people with a lot of friends and very active in the community.  A lot of people are being influenced by them.  And I send my brother-in-law good news about Obama so I influence him.  People talk to me in laundromats and libraries and I just answer back calmly so they can hear another perspective. I have heard a lot of people who say they are tired of the anger and hate.  They're not sure what they want, but they don't want that.
This area is very conservative and there are people who are armed to the teeth, but they can be reached.

I email, call congresspeople, contact the media, sign petitions and am usually positive and look for solutions when I comment here.

Most people just want to be happy.  Grassroots doesn't always mean knocking on doors or being on a phone bank.  The Republicans are focused?  Well so am I and I won't give up.  When we are positive and focus on solutions I think we each have tremendous influence.
