It kills me that you can't say the word Jew.....Some Jews are hysterical. They are calling for a boycott.

You can say 'the muslims' want to build a mosque, but you can't say the Jews oppose it.

I didn't mean to offend anyone.

    •  I'm very tired of the "You said everyone" claim. (0+ / 0-)

It happens a lot when someone says something, in relation to a group, that someone uses the "it's a wide brush" and "how can you say everyone is..." attack.  NOBODY IS CLAIMING 100% OF ANY GROUP IS (fill in the blank).  Naming the group, without clarifying that you mean only a certain percentage of that group, is how humans speak.  It's pretty much taken for granted that we don't mean 100% of it.  The attack is merely seizing on a technicality that is meant to shoot down the comment.

We are all so politically correct... when we say muslims do this or that.

But the word J** is generally off limits. But give me a break you you know what I mean! LOL

      •  I don't know where you've been for the past 50 (0+ / 0-)

years, but no, we DO NOT say "The African-Americans" or "The Jews" or "The Gays" and make a blanket statement. We stopped doing that, or when we do we are being sloppy and inflammatory. Figure out which people you are actually talking about and label them correctly.

you can't say the word Jew

no, it's not a Big Deal, but what a thing to say

      •  I got two instant (0+ / 0-)

replies for doing so. My broad brush was offensive. So be it.

I have a lot of respect for the Jewish people. Most of them are liberal and loud, and I love them for it.

I think this is more of a political opportunity for the right than anything.

maybe "some Jews are hysterical." some non-Jews too, i'm certain.

      but you wrote:

"The Jews in NYC are nearly hysterical over this mosque thing."

      which is on par with

"the Muslims destroyed the world trade center."

there is no difference in the syntax.
