If you had Christianity forced on you as a kid, that's an issue between you and your Mom and Dad.  I regret more than I can convey that so many people have had bad experiences that way but my experiences both as a child and an adult with Christ and his church have been positive and I don't like seeing my religion bashed when every other faith or lack thereof is not.

I bash all faiths, although not exactly in equal measures.

at any rate parents were long ago forgiven and i won't put them in a home when they get to that age. ;)

        Very Christ-like of you. :)

        •  You're not acting very Christ-like yourself (1+ / 1-)

I didn't see Jesus going off on a WATB rant.

He or she was acting completely appropriately. The comment was exactly the same as the righties saying American Sufi's are the same as al Queda and s/he called it out as being the bullshit comment it was... whether intended or simply loose use of language.

Your comment on the other hand is a personal attack on someone making a serious argument. I would hope that you might think a little deeper in the future and be more considerate of your fellows.

they clearly oppose the right of Muslims, who had nothing to do with the fanatics of 9/11, to exercise their religious liberties(see previous thread), while at the same time whining about Christians being some sort of poor victims in this country.
Show me where any peaceful Christian group is facing massive, nationwide opposition to the building of any church or YMCA based upon the action of some small group of Christian fanatics and then maybe you'll have a point.  Last I knew, there were none, despite the murder of Dr. Tiller, who was murdered by a supposed Christian, with other Christians defending the murder.  Yet, despite the deeply offensive nature of their actions, churches are still allowed to be built, without any protests, in Dr. Tiller's home state and all around the country--including massive megachurches.  And Catholic churches are still permitted to be built everywhere without protest, despite their long history of supporting and protecting child rapists.  That's just as offensive as 9/11 in my book--where are the protesters saying they shouldn't be allowed to build on their own private property?

Also, it's not a serious argument to claim that "everyone" would be offended by a similar post if it was against Muslims as opposed to Christians--that's not a serious argument, it's just pulling shit out of your ass.  Neither you nor darkspot have the first clue what I or others think about either group, their extremists, and how I would respond to them or posts about them.

              •  Really? (0+ / 0-)

So if someone posted a statement that said all Jews are vile and vicious or all Muslims are vile and vicious you wouldn't object?

                Sorry to hear that.

In regard to the rest of your argument it has absolutely nothing to do with the case at hand which completely and totally about a previous commenter referring to all Christians as vile and vicious.

It is a broad brush swipe every bit as bad as saying all Muslims are terrorists.

                It is just plain wrong.

poor thing.  It's a good thing the early Christians didn't get all snitty over mere criticism like you do.

      Valid criticisms.

You should learn a bit more about what they willingly put up with and stop your WATB act considering you are a large majority in this country.

Try complaining about your fellow Christians who you think are so unlike you, rather than complaining about the criticizers.

    •  "Religion bashers" - code for (0+ / 0-)

      "Critical thinkers".

If you cant post any criticism of religion that you don't automatically (in fact, inherently) consider "bashing", I'll take you seriously. Until then, you are just knee-jerking.
