  •  Mark Twain's "Letters from the Earth" (5+ / 0-)

(banned for many years) pretends to be a collection of letters from an Archangel named Lucifer to his nephew (a cherub). Lucifer gets into an argument with You-Know-Who, and decides to take a sabbatical until tempers cool. He visits, among other places, our planet.

    Paraphrase:

    Dear Nephew:
You can have no idea how idiotic are some of the Earthlings' beliefs. For example, not one in ten can sing worth mentioning, and even fewer can play a musical instrument of any description whatever, but all expect to spend Eternity strumming a harp and singing psalms to glorify the Almighty.

Personally, that would bore me to tears, but there's no accounting for taste. The question is, if that's how they want to spend Eternity, why, in Heaven's Name, don't they take music lessons before they die?
