    You are right. These are plentiful here, partly, I think, because of the college. Young people are much less likely to think it terms of 'them vs. us'...except when it comes to football!

      up here in the Pacific Northwest, home of Seattle and Portland, two of the most inclusive small cities in the country.  Maybe we have to stick together to keep from falling into the Pacific?

      All of this talk of what symbols signify just means that certain shapes (circles and forks, in this case) resonate with people on a deeper-than-thought level.  Every culture and generation has appropriated symbols for their own use because those symbols speak to something within us.  There are only a very few shapes that come up time and again; stands to reason that there's going to be repetition and/or overlap.
