  •  Since I don't post here challenging "fundys" (0+ / 0-)

your comments once again demonstrate only your own stereotypes and prejudices.

You consistently respond to me as one of them atheistical types, rather than directly in response to my actual individual comments and stated positions.

The site most definitely is about challenging political and ideological beliefs. Most of those belong to people we don't welcome on this site. Not all do, however; we engage in vigorous debate, for example, about health care bills and other policy issues.

You have yet to explain why you believe that discussion of the political and policy implications of religious belief should be taboo here, or why questioning those beliefs themselves should be equally taboo.

Can you point to another entire category of beliefs that you claim one may not challenge on Daily Kos?

    •  Misrepresentation is a low-life (0+ / 0-)

tactic. I have not said anywhere in this discussion that there is any category of beliefs that may not be challenged. I have questioned the efficacy of challenging religious beliefs, particularly of creationists, in a place like this.

That said, I don't consider this diary to be dedicated to trying to change anyone's religious beliefs directly. It strikes me more as a discussion about whether or not it is possible to convert creationists (really, read the diary). I haven't met any creationists here at DKos. Not surprising, as such ideology is unlikely to be hanging around these environs.

I have spoken to the theme of the diary. All you've done is try to pick a fight with some stereotype nowhere in evidence in these comments.

      •  I should just step back (0+ / 0-)

and let your dueling titles argue with themselves.

If only you took your own advice to heart, this entire exchange could have been avoided.

You came into this diary and explicitly questioned people's right to argue an atheist position, denials notwithstanding. You didn't question the utility, you questioned the appropriateness.

You did so in a way that exposed your prejudicial stereotypes about atheists, and your assumptions about the hidden agendas of those of us who engage in both political discussions about the effect of religion on public policy, as well as philosophical discussions about the reality of god - both topics with a long, respected legacy here on Daily Kos.

In fact, Markos created the spin-off Street Prophets specifically to accommodate those who cannot tolerate open discussion on matters of faith. And yet, that does not suffice. You feel compelled to come in here and piss all over those of us who wish to engage in in thoughtful debate about an issue we believe to be critical to American governance and society.

And then, you self-righteously and with utterly unconscious irony accuse us of every single tactic you have employed in the course of your argument.
        Bravo.
