  •  These people aren't new (1+ / 0-)

They've simply continued to amass power since Rush Limbaugh's radio show brought them out of the closet in the 1990s. And the reason they've continued to amass power is that no prominent person has consistently stood up to them, much less tried to rally the country to stand up to them.

That's why I think the Net Roots are futile — until and unless you're able to find politicians and media personalities who are willing both to confront these people in all ways and at all times and to try to get others to do the same thing, all your "victories" will be temporary gains that will be rolled away as these nutcases continue to take over the nation.

It's also why I hate the Democratic Party and the president, neither of which has shown the courage to do more than occasionally contradict these loons, when what's necessary is to confront them 24/7 for as long as necessary, which likely will be decades.

When he said, "I'll stand up to George Bush. Don't you think it's time somebody did?"

And he followed up with denouncing the religious right and saying "I want my country back."

Then he got sidetracked with all that Trippi-inspired "You have the power" BS.

And he has not been a profile in courage regarding Cordoba House.

But that initial thing about standing up, that launched him. And today, with an even more perilous situation, Democratic leaders besides Alan Grayson need to stand up.

Barack Obama: Ignores his legal obligation to prosecute people who tortured prisoners to death. Good at photo ops, though.

with the 'Red Scare'. Limbaugh is just a modern day version of Father Coughlin.

I don't hate Democrats, but I think many of them are weak and timid, concerned more with polls than what is right. Many of them believe in the nonsense of Trickle Down economics, which is what drives the right at its core, as well.

the times when real kings couldn't be anymore beneficial dictators and smart-assed people start thinking that guys like the above might have been possibly "beneficial dictators" for the poor. After that started all the lying about the virtues of freedom, as if a "dictorship of 'freedom lovers'" is impossible.

Winning the heart and minds of poor people with military occupations and threats accompanied by the lying ideologies of 'freedom lovers' is so screwed up, that all you get is mentally disturbed people.
