  •  There is a small but powerful (11+ / 0-)

sector of our population that understands that it cannot win the argument by Enlightenment rules (i.e. the ones we used to be taught at school) so rather than modify their argument they are trying to turn the US into a Medieval country. That way they get to keep their profit.

The biggest enablers are not FNC - they don't punch outside of their particular ghetto, it is the likes of CNN and the NYT who accept the erosion of Enlightenment values because it delivers more eyes and ears to the advertisers. These represent the puzzle that we have to solve, if they can be returned to a post 17th century methodolgy those that are trying to change the rules of debate will have no choice but to argue and debate by Enlightenment rules.

the perception that Dems don't fight for Democratic values. That is true for some (Nelson, Liberman, et al.), but watching the Senate on C-Span, I see so many who do - Whitehouse, Sanders, Harkin, Boxer, Franken, Sherrod Brown (on and on). The problem is that their speeches are not aired by the MSM, or if they are, the meat (i.e., the Truth in them) is edited out.

The brilliance and passion is ignored.

I'm tired of being the shovel brigade after those elephants. - Sen. Tom Harkin
