You have eloquently expressed what I've been thinking and saying ever since the Death Panel Season. This election is more important than the last. It is about the future of our country.

The fact is this: The media monopolies have been concertedly thwarting liberal and progressive ideas for years. If we had an honest, independent media, not hell-bent on sensation to fill their coffers, one that was not driving matters with ridiculous, false narratives, we would long have had many more and many Better Dems. The RW PR machine is killing us.

We need media reform and campaign finance reform, and those will preferably be intertwined. I hope that after we win these elections, we can turn our attention to that. The Disclose Act is a start but we need so much more - e.g. how about outlawing TV/radio campaign ads on the public airwaves outright, and forcing stations to serve the public by airing a certain number of hours for debates and public service profiles of candidates? That should be part of the licensing conditions, IMO.

BTW, Howard Dean was just on Crowley's show with this message: The base of the party is progressive and there have been disappointments. But it's time for Democrats to put their policy differences aside and come together to win the elections. After that, we can go back to fighting over policy. He also predicted that we will keep control of both houses.

There is no more important struggle for American democracy than ensuring a diverse, independent and free media. - Bill Moyers
