In order to have moral cowardice, one must still have some tiny semblance of morality.  Rove utterly lacks such a semblance, as do most of his party members.

The GOP has skillfully played the politics of hate and the politics of fear since Nixon's time.  Rove has been one of the most effective practitioners of that black art.  He played it well in 2000 and even better in 2004, and he clearly sees another chance this year.

The problem here is not w/ the GOP following, once again, the template has been so effective for them for so long.  The problem here is far too many Dems (including Dean) giving the latest GOP wedge issue credence.  One might think that, in the face of the worst economic crisis in 7 decades, the placement of 1 Muslim community center in 1 American city would not ever come close to becoming a national issue.

Then again, one might think that a lazy ignorant dry drunk frat boy would never ascend to this nation's highest office via judicial fiat.  One might also think that the Dems would, at some point, realize that responding to GOP memes w/ anything but disdain and defiance was a losing proposition.

Some men see things as they are and ask why. I dream of things that never were and ask why not?
