    he wanted to condemn the outward racism of the right, but he was buying into the belief that associating the Park51 folks with radicals could form the basis of a legitimate criticism.  I agree there are people who are not malicious who may oppose this project at this site, but the compromise is really to get those folks to see that simply being Muslim doesn't mean they have anything else in common with terrorists.

    So, I think actually compromising and moving the site discourages rather than encourages interfaith dialogue, as it lets the "teachable moment" Dean talked about pass without actually having the required discussion about the differences between moderate (legitimate) and extreme (perverted) Islam.
