    as "tax cuts for Senator Fill-in-the-blank." Because Boehner PERSONALLY wants his income taxes cut, obviously. Then that would seem pretty venal, using your power to financially help yourself. Not that Republicans would care, but independents might.

    •  Problem is that independents like having their (0+ / 0-)

      taxes cut, too.

      That includes a lot of not-very-wealthy people who will lose child credits and see their base rate go up 50%.

      Not wise to sell eliminating tax cuts for the wealthy. Better to sell fair taxes for most Americans.  No need to raise taxes on wealthy because that will be automatic.

      First and foremost, we should STOP referring to this as the "Bush Plan." I really am starting to feel that referring to Bush in this manner suggests an abdication of responsibility for many undecided voters.

      Bush himself had misgivings about implementing the 2003 round of tax cuts for the rich until Cheney talked him down with the "this is our due"pronouncement.

      This is worse than what the previous President signed off on. I know that taking shots at Bush is good fun and motivational for us in this community, but we really need to be mindful of how scared and confused voters who are still going to decide this election perceive our invoking of the Bush legacy.

      Boehner and Ryan are authoring this nonsense, and we should label it as what the GOP overtly intends to do with their majority status.

      Second, the killer part of this plan is the intent to raise taxes on those making $200K or less in order to pay for tax cuts above and beyond the current ones set to expire in December. I know that's easier said than done, because the GOP will deny they are raising taxes on anyone, but this puts them on record and we should rub their noses in it.

      We need to help voters focus on what is going to happen in the future, not what misgivings they may have with either Bush or Obama policies or initiatives to date. Admitting mistakes were made and resolving to learn from them is something FDR did throughout the New Deal.

      plans on cutting capital gains tax to zero if she is elected governor - she and her wealthy friends will make out like bandits and the state will lose billions; she will be 'Arnuld's third term' of the GOP 'terminate the CA government' 40+ year campaign; when political extremist can't get what they want they Annihilate ; their two-step is obstruct-Annihilate , obstruct - Annihilate ;

      Whitman has spent over 100million dollars flooding the media since 2009 and is only 50 -50 with Jerry Brown... Brown's disciplined strategy to deal with being outspent by a billionaire won him the summer... but all Whitman needs is 51% in the fall .... this is Bush's national campaign strategy from 1999 it is the campaign playbook she is following... same thing GOP nationally....

      do you think you can convince the public that ignoring climate change is insane... it hasn't worked so far - do you think you can convince the public that the GOP is bad for them - we've had limited success... the problem is that Democrat 'representatives' are compromised/corrupt THEY can't be convinced to keep the democracy... they really truly support oilgarchy with a facade of 'democracy' and that is what we actually have;

      public doesn't trust Democrats... they gave it a try 03-06-08 to MOVE FORWARD their democracy agenda but any Democrats-leaders for Democracy have to show/prove that Democrats are going to discipline their own leaders for narcissistic corruption; the public is not going to vote for absolution on 'change they can believe in' message; they don't believe the message - that sailed -  real Democrat 'representatives' must change the Democratic party not ask for absolution in November - they won't be granted absolution

      you could try to explain GOP misanthropic philosophy forever has it helped, play catch up trying to teach public the facts in the face of lies moving at the speed of light, instruct them in abnormal psychology and try to show them GOP will have them voting against their own interests but what has that achieved....

      well we moved the ball towards our goal post 2003, 2006, 2008 but the fight for democracy's survival is not rivaling the fight for individual survival from the Bush-depression;

      some of the public still rightly feel they have no chance to change the government for the better after they really tried from 03,06, 08 (2010)to keep up the fight;

      emotional appeal feeds the outlet for stirred pot of primal fears, which GOP boils to point the public is 'blinded' by outrage and 'demands' satisfaction ....well then the 1% of 51% could come from maddening crowd so blinded by outrage they run in the wrong direction - that's the basic GOP 49-51  pain and fear campaign

      Jerry Brown has strongest record of any five most recent CA governors at creating jobs as a % of national job growth. http://tinyurl.com/23bmdkv
