  •  Really, they're not here? (4+ / 0-)

Well where is the enthusiasm of the 2008 campaigns? We're two months out and action diaries are few and far between.  It's downer diaries after downer diaries - those are nothing more than pleas for Speaker Boehner.

Sen. Reid is no different than the Republicans who demagogue the issue. He's no different than Sarah Palin, Steve King, Rush Limbaugh. Enjoy the company.

Maybe all the committed activists have gotten busy with OFA?  The downer diaries are really well organized, but not much substance.

I suspect that it's not worth posting action diaries anymore - the angry first responders kill the buzz.

rarely post here any more. There has been a concentrated effort to tear down OFA here, why would they continue to participate at this site?

when a respected diarist tweets her pals to take down an "OFA" diary.

My sister and I are doing as much as we can, although it's hard when you're being caregivers.  It seems to me the energy and action really aren't here right now.

There are some here who see OFA as competition to their money-making ventures, so they do everything they can to tear down OFA. It's pathetic and sad, but not unexpected when posters are using this place to make money.

here.  I guess it's now possible to be banned for bringing it up.  Strange community policing.  I'd have thought she'd be banned for bringing so much strife.

    •  You have a terrible time with mischaracteriation. (0+ / 0-)

You did it twice yesterday (in brief passing), and again this morning.

When did I say "they're not here"?

I left room for them here, while pointing out they are few and far between.

That said: while there are many (what you call) "downer diaries" (and how terrible, that people refuse to stay excited about what they see as disappointments), many of the authors of those "downer diaries" ALSO, simultaneously, propose holding one's nose and pulling the lever in November.

Thus, I'm at a loss trying to figure out just WTF you're talking about...

      •  I contend they are not few and far between... (0+ / 0-)

but rather close to the majority.  And holding ones nose and voting gets out one vote.  The issue is the enthusiasm gap and if one saying "I'll hold my nose to vote"...Holy shit I'm fired up just typing that out myself.

Forget "Fired up and ready to go!" it should be "Hold your nose..." and have "And vote"!! chanted back.

        "Hold your nose!!"
        "And Vote!!"
        "Hold your nose!!"
        "And Vote!!"
        "Hold your nose!!"
        "And Vote!!"

        •  Okay, so we have a difference of opinion. (0+ / 0-)

Gladly, we seem to have moved beyond one of us grossly mischaracterizing the opinion of the other.

Baby steps toward reasoned debate and discussion.

What you are now referring to is the enthusiasm gap. And that is real. And I'm certain that there's plenty of that to go around here.

Where we would perhaps differ is the interpretation.

I do not interpret a lack of enthusiasm that says "get out there and knock on every door you can for the Democrats!" to mean that others are looking forward to or desire to see a speaker Boehner.

And if that enthusiasm is lacking, I certainly don't place the heft of the blame on those who've been disappointed.

I've never been one for blaming the victims.

For me, that blame lies heavily with those who disappointed them.

After all, it's not the victims who turned unseen-in-years levels of hope and optimism into disappointment, despair and cynicism...

when you specifically had a list of ten things you wanted for Christmas?  And you focused solely on the two things you didn't get?

Nobody is a victim here.  It's not blaming the victims, and characterizing it as such is telling in it's own right.

After all, it's not the victims who turned unseen-in-years levels of hope and optimism into disappointment, despair and cynicism...

You do know this was exactly the GOP strategy right?

            •  To you they're not victims. (0+ / 0-)

To them, I'm sure in some way they seem themselves as being victimized.

But I'm guessing that is in large part the chasm that exists between:

              a) those like you who think Santa should be thanked for giving a Tonka Truck with four broken wheels...
              AND
              b) those like me who think it was kind of Santa to try, but the truck is only useable with four functioning wheels.
