Showing dumb bigots as just the guy next door who wants his country back means that it won't be long until a dumb bigot has a real shot at the presidency. I mean, we'll actually think back on GWB with wistful nostalgia for the kind of knowledgable, rational, articulate candidate (by comparison) that conservatives used to produce.

Okay, so there is actually good meta. Who knew?

but I'm not sure how boycotting toilet paper is going to reverse that trend. It seems like that energy could be better directed.

do, personally, to keep a few bucks out of their evil bucket of funding.  The only real power we have is our pocketbooks.  We can use our money to build up companies that are trying to do the right thing.

I'm just unconvinced that they have any efficacy here. I think you're just getting into diminishing returns with stuff like this. You can always refuse to buy toilet paper from the Koch bros. -- but then who are you going to buy it from? Is there a toilet paper company out there that is not owned by a right-wing interest?  And are you really going to get enough friends, family, and total strangers to boycott Koch-made goods to make any measurable impact upon their sales? And even if you do, how long will it take to hit their bottom line hard enough to hurt them? How many future elections will be over by then?

Don't get me wrong: history has shown that boycotts, specifically targeted and properly executed, can be effective. I just don't think that they will work in this instance.
