    also combine that with the fact that primary polling is notoriously hard to nail down.  

    This wasn't on anyone's screen but the dynamics of the race clearly started to charge several weeks ago.

      Just Great.  It's from the linked Anchoragte newspaper story.

      Dittman said Tuesday night that he was surprised that Miller was leading. He said he thought it would be close but that Murkowski had the edge.

      Dittman said he thought the final advertising blitz by the Tea Party Express made the difference. He said the California based Tea Party group, which has had success in Lower 48 Republican primary races, made a huge difference in the Alaska race.

      that prop 2 brought out a lot of conservatives.

        The proposition brought them all out to stifle access to abortion incrementally. Joe Miller is the anti-abortion candidate and Murkowski has always been pro-choice. All session she's been shifting way right on everything else but that.

        I think Palin was not the big influence but the trad med will certainly claim that she was.
