  •  Ok thanks. (6+ / 0-)

I completely understand your worry about viruses. I scan everything I download no matter the source.

    •  Downloaded and unzipped perfectly. (6+ / 0-)

I did a very fast, very superficial spot check of files and links in diaries and comments. Short dKos links don't work. One I checked started out with file:/// Other links seem to work but I didn't hunt for any dKos links other than the short ones.

Thanks for all the work you must have put into doing this.

      •  Great. Makes sense that short links don't work (7+ / 0-)

I'll spare the gory detail, but...

Short answer is that the short links are what they call 'relative links'. For those to work, the file has to reside on the dKos web server.

I don't think sillivanst has plans to somehow doctor those, but we can ask next time he surfaces.

on a Mac to do a global search and replace for the short links on all the files in the folder. Checked a couple of files and it seems to have worked but I wouldn't bet a nickel that all the files are perfect. Also, it now seems to be a 22mb file here if you want to check it.

          •  Kool. I've added 'relative link fix' (1+ / 0-)

to my utility. Effectively did the same edit that you did with TextWrangler. Should have a revised download ready this morning.

Now how did you double the archive size by that simple edit? Maybe you didn't use the compression switch when you zipped it? That's a head scratcher.
