  •  Unfortunately the Taliban, being islamic (0+ / 0-)

    fundamentalist religious fanatics, are more motivated than NATO and the moderate Muslims of AfPAk. It's just how it is.

    •  The Taliban are not a monolithic group (0+ / 0-)

      In fact, the vast majority of the foot soldiers are likely mainly fighting because of the pay.

      The more territory they lose, the more jobs become available because of development, and the more commanders they lose, the more likely the foot soldiers are to split off.

      And they're not exactly popular amongst the populace, especially not in comparison to the Afghan National Army.

      While the Afghan National Army enjoys in excess of 80% support, the percentage of the population that is supportive of the Taliban hovers around 10%.

      That's not good news for the Taliban, especially since the ANA is rapidly growing in both size and quality.
