        The intent of the law of retribution was to ensure that the punishment corresponded to the crime in order to control the punishment inflicted on the guilty persons, not collective punishment which is what they are espousing now. Even within the various OT references to variations of "life for life, eye for eye" etc., there was a predisposition towards fair retributive justice. This sure ain't it.
