  •  Actually it is well proven (3+ / 0-)

You do understand there is a 60 vote rule in the senate, right?

In the House where a simple majority rules, we managed to pass HCR with a public option, a full 6-7 months before the senate. So that shows you, where they have the power, democrats have been carrying water for us.

that the Democratic majority in the Senate could abolish the filibuster tomorrow if it wanted to, don't you?  They have chosen not to do so, which just shows you, where they have the power, Democrats have not necessarily been carrying water for us.

    •  Not only false, but missing the point. (0+ / 0-)

No, there is no 60 vote rule in the Senate.  How many votes did it take to pass the Bush tax cuts?  You'll note.. the answer is less than 60.

And as for missing the point, let me try a little harder.

You want your county to build a rec center.  Your commissioner says, we don't have the votes to do that, but we do have the votes to put up a sign that says 'Future Site of the Rec Center'.  You are happy with this, because it had the votes to pass, and assume that this was the best you could get.
