soon as its economic system collapses and a vast majority of Americans are out of work, angry, and armed. The money people will scoot and we'll get to rebuild the  wrecked infrastructure, government, financial system, etc to something better. I mean, look at China 1899-1980, and Germany 1945-1970 ... some bad times in there, but look how good they cleaned up!

Had it ever occurred to you that the Obama administration never had any intention to produce a reasonable bill? Had it ever occurred to you that this administration is almost as corrupt (in the old fashioned money changing hands way) as the previous one?

Yes, that had ocurred to me.  Rahm Emmanuel, the President's COS and ear guardian wrote a book with another DLC'er back in 2004 describing the few things a HCR bill could and might deliver and Democrats could and should run on.  None of those things included a systemic reform.  expanding coverage to the margins, expanding "markets",allowing "competition" between private profit plans....all the freebooting Heritage/Cato quack nostrums were in there along with the myths of the very best health care system in the world simply needing a few tweaks to make Americans overjoyed.

The Obama speechwriters can get excited and colorful and dramatic but the actual effect and actions?  same old same old.  "We don't have the votes" sniff sniff.  the deal was done by bringing in the big players in the earliest days and guaranteeing their rackets, their thefts were to be basically untouched.

Want to prove me wrong?  release the actual discussions if they exist in recorded form. We have as much chance of seeing those as we do the Dick Cheney Robbers and Brigand's Ball of secrecy at the White house in 2001 of the oil executives deciding on the energy policy for Iraq, Iran and Afghanistan.
