wasn't talking about you.  If you weren't running political ads against democrats, then Rahm wasn't talking to you.  If you aren't push polling good democrats out of tough races, then you're probably not a purity troll.
God, the last time we ran a candidate the "true" progressives were happy with, he didn't break 38% percent.

First of all when was the last time we ran a progressive candidate?

The closest we got were Howard Dean and John Edwards. Remember what they did to dean? And Edwards is of course the antichrist because he had an affair. Like you know.. both Bush's did. Like half the friggin republicans in office.

and gibbs knew exactly what he was saying and who he was talking about. People like.. oh.. you know.. Markos, the people who run moveon, the folks at DFA, the bloggers.. you know thep eople who actually fought the republicans instead of sucking their corporate d*cks and helped us take over the House the Senate and the whitehouse as well as raising millions for them and destroyingthe right wing media machine. Those people.

On the other hand to be fair i understand trying to rationalise why a white house you believe is progressive would do this stuff. Problem is the evidence is becoming overwhelming that your take on this is wrong. The white house meant what he said.

And Jesus said to his disciples, "Truly, I say to you, it will be hard for a rich man to enter the kingdom of heaven.

certainly on the left, but not a liberal until he decided to run for the nomination.
There is a huge difference between Markos, moveon, or Dfa, who are all constructively critical, and the Ratigans, Hamshers, Uygers, and Greenwalds of the world.  I don't understand how people with their intellect can be so ignorant about the majorities required in the past to pass progressive legislation.

when has obama tried to do anythingthat wasnt corporate approved.

And i understand your mindset. Which makes me honestly feel bad because i think your disappointment is going to be harsh. That really really wasnt meant to be condescending btw at all. Because hell i believed Edwards populist rhetoric.. til his actual record really sank in and i realised what you knew about him all along.

are as liberal as our society allows.  I understand your frustration with the pace of progress, but I have seen many people around many benefit from our parties legislation.  I turned 18 a couple days after the 06 midterms, and had only broken away from the fundamentalist Christian conservative mentality a year before that.  I have seen these people teach their children from birth to fight an ideological trench war for the soul of our country.  And in trench war, an offensive gaining 10sq miles was often called  a great success.  That is why any progress, no matter how small does not disappoint me.

check the polling on the issues. The american citizenry is solidly behind us and has alwasy been. Now the chattering class.. totally different thing.

We would understand if this really were a rw country. That a politician would have to compromise. But consider health care alone. Obama himself specifically killed singlepayer and the public option when americans were overwhelmingly (like 74%) in favor. That isnt "making necessary compromise". That is betraying the base, the american people and your campaign rhetoric.

hate jane thing. I dont think you guys get it... and by you guys youre one of the more reasonable. Your hating on jane and slink backfires everytime you do it. Everytime some moron implies that somehow because Jane/slink arent starving in the street and are working.. at a progressive blog.. theyre corrupt. You piss off the VAST majority of kossacks who know who they are. And this community is an old community and its longtime members are tight even if they fight. When you do the "cast down the heretics" thing you burn lots and lots of bridges youll find important if youre around a while.

...but the real question is:  Why didn't the Dems regard McGovern as their Goldwater?

The GOP took the big loss in '64, and 16 years later they got Reagan elected.  Where was our Reagan in 1988??  Why wasn't s/he ready by then?

The '60s were simply an attempt to get the 21st Century started early....Well, what are we waiting for? There's no deadline on a dream!
