      but you can't enjoy them until you've gone over the great overview.

      Quantum mechanics is simply awesome -- but it looks boring if you haven't gone through differential equations, have classical mechanics and electrostatics down pat, have a good grasp of the history of physics and so forth.

      I find most modern art boring -- but I assume it's because I simply don't understand it. I'm at a Gumby level of art. Anything you don't have the education for appears boring to you. Basketball also bores the shit out of me -- but I've only played basketball a few times and watched a few games. I assume I just simply lack the knowledge to see what's going on beyond dribble, shoot, dribble, shoot.

      On the other hand, I find "Gravity's Rainbow" fucking awesome -- but I can see that someone who isn't a voracious reader would be bored shitless if they started there.
