    in part they've been told that if it weren't for Teh Eeeevvvvviiiillllll Gummint hand in their pocket giving THEIR MONEY to OTHER [scary brown and black lazy] people] that they would be wealthy! Wealthy, I say! Beyond their wildest imaginings! And then they wouldn't NEED those "social safety nets."

    It's diabolical. They get people to not only resent paying into the system but to resent having to take advantage of it.
