But I'm going to complain, too.  That's America, buddy.

Don't use your right to complain as a tool to help elect Republicans.

I think it's too easy for both sides of this little meta debate to envision straw men in their own heads when they talk about these things.

So for me, you're some kind of gray-haired, gray-faced commi-nazi in a gray room telling me that if I don't repeat the party line I get the rats in the face again.

But I'm sure your a very nice, reasonable person.  I just don't get how we're supposed to criticize vehemently certain policies of this administration without looking like we're trying to get them unelected.

We're just trying to point out that the policies they're doing are going to get them unelected and we want them to change.

        •  This is a common tactic (0+ / 0-)
They say "of course, constructive criticism is fine, but YOUR criticism is nothing but vitriol", and somehow no criticism ever seems to pass the test.
        •  I'd be glad to explain how... (0+ / 0-)

Let me start with a 'how not'...

The health care bill is a piece of shit.

Now here's an example of a 'how to'...

The health care bill takes care of some of the big problems that we wanted addressed.  Now people with pre-existing conditions can get covered, people won't get kicked off because they get really sick, 15-20 million of the 40 million uninsured will get free medical insurance and the other 20-25 million can get very good federal subsidies to help them pay for insurance.

But I think the bill should have also provided....

          See?

Acknowledge what our side has managed to get done in the first year and a half of this new Democratic administration and then express your desire for more.

That way we get our spirits raised by what we've accomplished while getting ourselves talking about what we next need to do....
