  •  As a progressive who (42+ / 0-)

had decided not to donate to Conway (but support him overall) because of his position on tax cuts for the rich, and said so in a Conway fundraising diary, I'm going to give Conway $25 today in honor of this asshat.

    •  Tom, Conway clearly said he supports middle class (7+ / 0-)

tax cuts. As does the administration.

Not sure why you keep repeating the Republican talking point that he supports cuts "for the rich."

This issue is coming to the forefront. It will a major component of the elections this year.

The Republicans want to paint the Democratic candidates into a corner and make the Dems sign off on extension of ALL the tax cuts. The Democrats OTOH are using specificity to examine whether an extension of specific tax cuts for certain segments like the middle class would help our economy during this downturn.

The Obama admin has already said the tax cuts for the wealthiest 2% have to go. They don't support any extension.

      •  He supoorts an extension of (6+ / 0-)

tax cuts for the wealthy.  It is a true statement.  That is not a Republican talking point.  I will not deny reality.

"Jack Conway was in favor of the Bush tax cuts when they first passed (in 2001 and 2003), and he's in favor of extending the Bush tax cuts now," said spokeswoman Allison Haley.

You are making a false statement when you claim he does not support an extension of tax cuts for all people, inluding the wealthy.

You switch your argument into talking about Obama.  I was speaking of Mr. Conway.  Your argument makes no sense and is based on false premises.

Look, I gave him $25, but I won't make beleive that soemthing is true when it is false.

Did you even listen to your own video?  FULLY listen to the entire thing?

Yes, Conway used the words "he supports extending the bush tax cuts" ... bad Conway to not think ahead and rephrase that meme there. BUT if you continue to listen to the rest of his sentence he fully clarified that statement by noting specific sections like the middle class that should get the tax cut extension.

He did NOT say that he supported tax cuts on the wealthy.

Why do you keep doing this to suppress Conway support? What's in it for you? Are you concerned that money for Carnahan goes to Conway or what? I really don't get it.

where he rejects an extrension of tax cuts for the wealthy.  It's easy for Conway to end this.

            I am not spreading misinformation.

The NRSC has already attacked Democratic candidates Robin Carnahan (Mo.) and Jack Conway (Ky.) for changing their positions on the cuts. Both once made statements supporting the expiration some or all of the cuts.

Last week, Carnahan said she now favors extending all of them, citing the continuing economic downturn. Conway previously said the "majority" of the cuts should expire, but he has recently said most of them should be extended due to the state of the economy.

            •  Conway *very clearly* listed 3 segments (0+ / 0-)

to receive an extension NOT permanent repeal of tax cuts.

              No.where.at.all.did.he.say.the.WEALTHIEST.

You want to assert that Conway said this and you make this point without any basis whatsoever and then you want me to prove a specific point for you. What kind of logic and games are you playing?

What can be proven is that Conway initially said the majority of the tax cuts should expire. BUT because the recession has continued and is so deep, he revised this BASED ON current ECONOMIC DATA like a REASONABLE AND INTELLIGENT PERSON WOULD DO and he then made some SPECIFIC adjustments to THREE SECTORS and the INDIVIDUAL TAXES... the WAGES of the MIDDLE CLASS were ON HIS LIST.

The Hill piece was inaccurate reporting. No duh. The Hill does that from time to time. The Hill said Conway wanted "most" of the cuts to be extended. Do you really think that those 3 segments that Conway spelled out would qualify as "most" tax cuts?

Last week, Carnahan said she now favors extending all of them, citing the continuing economic downturn. Conway previously said the "majority" of the cuts should expire, but he has recently said  most of them should be extended due to the state of the economy.

              MOST is NOT three (3).

into the discussion because this topic will be the defining topic of the election season. One of the main hot buttons.

Democrats across the nation are examining the tax cuts and its effects on our economy during this major downturn. It's a community effort underway by Democrats together to work this out while blunting the Republican attacks on our Democratic candidates.

You have bought into that attack angle. Sad to say.

You bring the Obama adminstration into the discussion to confuse the issue.

You accuse me of spreading misinformation, but have presentted NO SUPPORT for your position.

Please retract your fasle accusation or prove that Mr. Conway  NOW SUPPORTS ENDING TAX CUTS FOR THOSE MAKING OVER $250,000.

You really harm Mr. Conway with your accusations.

            •  Tom, you know very well this issue is a work (1+ / 0-)

in progress for the Democrats to define during this election season.

Furthermore, you know very well the "individual" tax cuts applies to the vast middle class in this nation.

And your baseless and thoughtless throw-away comments about my accusations to confuse the issue are frankly underhanded and cheap. There is great complexity in examining the issue surrounding the "individual" tax cuts and the capital gains tax. For you to insist that your purity blinders are the best and to denigrate Conway for some perceived unprogressive stance is a low blow. Especially when you go into his fundraising diary to do so.

We've always had our differences and you interrupted my diary on the SEIU incident and that fraudster Kenneth Gladney while I was trying to track it down and get a handle on it. You not only made accusations there without merit and disrupted the diary, but you basically called me out and wanted the diary shut down and my investigatory research stopped.

With no merit what so ever.

              Cheap shots.
