off this site it will be no big loss.

I'm just sick of the toothless pastor and his congregation of idiots getting air time because they believe in a magical creature. Enough.

    •  lol - as a Christian I'm completely done w him... (5+ / 0-)

      ...because he denegrates my faith.

I think making jokes about book burning in the way you did it didn't quite hit the mark.

      •  That's probably because I think religion is a (0+ / 0-)

bunch of well-intended nonsense that usually ends up horribly wrong.

          I just respectfully disagree.

But I think we can both agree that this "pastor" dude is a total douchebag.

And yes, he is a douche bag. I respect your right to worship anything or anyone you want, as long as you don't drag it into politics! Which is sadly happening in many places around the world - and this country - as evidenced by Glenn Beck's mumbo-jumbo fiesta rally.

...because I'm unable to do a "don't ask don't tell" when it comes to the intersection of my faith my values and my politics - they're all pretty much intertwined.

But that's just me - lots of folks who are dedicated to the same goals I am don't have the same spiritual beliefs (or none at all) and that's cool. :-)

              •  Yeah, I think that faith (0+ / 0-)

is harmless when it's something private between a person and his/her concept of some kind of creator...It's when large groups of people get together where the whole thing starts to unravel.

                •  "creator" is the least important part of my faith (3+ / 0-)

...but that's tangental to the conversation we're having.

The problem (for you) with this:

It's when large groups of people get together where the whole thing starts to unravel.

is that the ability to do this is protected by the 1st amendment.

Aside from that, tell human beings who are innately social creatures not to organize themselves into large groups - good luck with that ;-)

    •  Don't be intolerant of religion (0+ / 0-)

Religion is more popular than atheism and they could just as well be intolerant of you and others in the secular minority.
