    Shortly after 9/11 Bush stood on a pile of rubble at ground zero and people thought that was magnificient. When the attacks happened, where was he? How did he handle the trauma of that day? Cheney was left in charge. It seems to me both 9/11 and Katrina proved what many already knew, Bush was nothing but a photo-op President. He did nothing to actually bring to justice those who attacked America on 9/11, ignored the warnings prior to the attacks. Same can be said for Katrina, he did nothing to help the people of NOLA, not even in the aftermath. However, he went out of his way to stage yet another photo op.

      What you say is pretty much true about Bush, but this was written not to blame him so much as to point to the indifference and privatization and dismantling of emergency response systems etc. that he represented and that still continues. Tho' I hate to say it, Democrats have not been uniformly blameless in this, either. We have to keep after them to rebuild the country. Thanks for your note.
