Is because Palin supported the establish pick and favorite in early Presidential primary states.  She endorsed Branstad over obvious teabagger Vander Plaats, and Ayotte in NH over more obvious bagger Ovide Lamontagne, because she'll need their endorsement/support should she run for the Presidency in 2012 and will need to take the early primaries.

Palin never visited NH before the 2008 general election campaign; and she hasn't been back since.  This is going to hurt her if she chooses to run for President in 2012.

She isn't laying the groundwork for a 2012 run.  Her strategy at the moment seems to be to rent the Verizon Wireless Arena on Sunday, February 12, 2010 for a splashy event costarring Glenn Beck, which will be simulcast on FoxNews.  It's going to take more than that to win NH.

I think she is at a huge disadvantage in NH. Aside from the fact that her opponents are way away of her at the moment. The NH Primary is all about unscripted exchanges--- and she isn't very good when she has no script.  She isn't a good debater, and her few recent interactions with ordinary citizens who aren't fans have been disastrous.

candidate in Maryland, which would seem to be a total bucking of the party elders and the establishment retreadcandidate who is the guy the previous occupant pretended to be.  Humble background with an Ivy education.

No, it's never just been in the South.

    •  Is Lamontagne really a teabagger? (0+ / 0-)

He was a right wing nut candidate a decade and a half before the Tea Party existed and is the reason Jeanne Shaheen got elected governor.
