    ...then the option that asserts that government can and should play an active role in society is the the one that is "fucking nuts."

    Kentucky and a handful of other states aren't going to "see the light" just because the facts are on our side. It "feels" right to McCain/Paul voters to "get the Federal Government out of the way". Paul suggests that "local government closer to the people" can adequately manage any conflicts that might arise, which gives him the fig leaf of not rejecting all government. He omits mentioning the ease with which local governments can be swatted out of the way by a determined and well compensated legal team. Most county regulatory bodies don't stand a chance against the legal might that a Massey Energy has at its disposal, and they simply surrender before a "shot is fired."
