in the national spotlight. There was the 2008 election, but she wasn't the frontrunner on the ticket, McCain was. She's never had to be on the ballot all by herself. If she runs in 2012, she'll get her ass kicked and maybe it'll knock her down a peg or two once she realizes that a large majority of the country does not worship her and the ground she walks on.

OTOH her following is pretty blindly loyal. She's a quitter. She's as dumb as a rock. She's obviously incredibly incurious and uninformed about the world around her and policy. She's so obviously unqualified for any elected office and yet....

people will vote for her because she's [sorta] cute, is a "grizzly bear mom" (or soccer mom or whatever) and she a "real american".

In a field of 5, 6, 8 GOP primary candidates, it won't take many votes to take a lead. especially in their ALL-R-NOTHIN system. And, the nastier her opponents get, the more she'll scream sexism and claim they're sell-outs blah blah. She'll strengthen with her supporters with every primary attack against her.

I wouldn't be so sure she couldn't make it through a GOP primary. If the Huckster is in, maybe not. He'd win Iowa. Romney, NH. Leaving her lost until SC or some other southern state but it still wouldn't bee too late.

Her fans are loyal, blind, ignorant and unbending.

Miss Christine is cuter and younger and can even string together a sentence or two without tossing a word salad. Christine is at least as crazy and ambitious beyond her talents and is a true believer in her insanity (maybe). She also has that attitude of entitlement to whatever her campaign can get her; instead of the RNC wardrobe it is paying her rent.

Christine is the hot new flavor of the month in the rightwing circles. I am just waiting for some horny male columnist to start salivating over her (paging Rich Lowry, Billy Kristol, etc...)

the teabaggers are having a fair amount of success in the R-only primaries this cycle.  Unless Palin herself gets teabagged by some other candidate with stronger 'bagger bona fides (whatever they may be), it's not inconceivable that she could win some primaries, particularly the early ones where there are multiple candidates. Romney, Huckabee and the like split the "establishment" vote, and Sarah takes her 30-35% 'bagger vote for the win.  A few early wins like that could give her a shot at the nomination.

Which would be an O'Donnell-esque gift for the Dems, I think.

      •  Ugh, I'm not sure I want her to win the R (0+ / 0-)

        nomination.

Would Obama beat her. More than likely. But what if he doesn't? 4 years of her? We might get lucky and she'll quit after 2, but I couldn't imagine this country after she's finished running it.

I think I'd rather take our chances with Mittens or Fuckabee than her.
