  •  lakoff's paradigm is on point; (4.00)
the strong father family v. the nurturing father family (yeah...it struck me as a bit phallucentric, but take it up with george.)

with the strong father model; when i say no homosexuality, that's the way its gonna be (your kid, my kid...whatever.)  my way or the highway- now!!!

we just feel differently, that's all.

but maybe even the thick armour of self-righteousness donned by the doc can't keep out every particle of the dust of reality from getting through.  he probably deserves a little compash.

c'mon doc; remember the last scene in fiddler,  when tevya breaks down and speaks to his daughter (who had committed the unpardonable sin of marrying a gentile and was therefore "dead.")  isn't love the only thing stronger than a cherished world view? and isn't that really god's gift to humanity, if anything is?

ms. keyes will be ok if her head is screwed on right.  she seems to have friends and connections, and there are plenty of decent people who will know her story... i do feel for the doctor, though.

    Howard Dean, your table's waiting.
