I think the chances of Obama stepping in and pressuring a lifelong establishment democratic candidate to drop out in favor of a moderate republican turned independent - are even less than Meek dropping out on his own accord. I'd be curious to hear of any examples a sitting President in the past fifty years forcefully opposing his party's nominee for Senate - possibly it has happened with someone about to be convicted of something but I can't remember an instance.  So I don't think it's accurate to say that something that's never happened is how things get done.

It's frustrating that Rubio is probably gonna win in Florida, but Meek dropping out either due to pressure or on his own is less likely than even him winning (which ain't bloody likely).

...but the Republicans blasted David Duke's run.

In a Democracy, everything is politics.

I will certainly admit I'm wrong.  I remember republicans blasting him, I don't remember a republican president doing so. But I easily could have forgotten the details.

Assuming you are correct, do you think Obama will consider Kendrick Meek on a par with David Duke? Meek is - unfortunately - the kind of Democrat Obama likes.  He's left of center and he's part of the machine.  Obama loves to be able to support guys like that to prop up his left wing cred while not opposing the establishment. I suspect that Obama will stay out of this one because Meek is guaranteed to lose, but if he does step in, it will be with support not opposition.

If we get 1 or two polls in the next three weeks with Meek within ten of Rubio, I would expect Obama to go to bat for him.
