    Obama isn't on the ticket.

or he wouldn't be coming back to Wisconsin again and again, every few weeks now.  But he keeps coming to Dem strongholds for Dem GOTV, which is good to an extent.  However, to pick up enough votes outside of Milwaukee and Madison, Obama ought to be going outside of Milwaukee and Madison to firm up sites -- as Gore did -- like La Crosse and Green Bay, too.

And the White House definitely is on the ticket in Wisconsin because of the bailouts and stimulus, just more in the long list of fed money of which Wisconsin continues to not get its fair share.  There has been a lot of publicity about this lately in Wisconsin, which long has been near the bottom of states getting fed tax funds back -- and "mavericks" don't do it.

That ratio seems to only have gotten worse in the last two years, while Wisconsin is suffering but sees stimulus money literally going south -- lots more per person to Illinois, Obama's home state -- or east, with more attention to Michigan's economy, while Wisconsin is suffering from loss of jobs, too.

For pity's sake, even amid massive floods that caused widespread damage and a major sinkhole in the most populated part of the state and its major city, Dem pols had to beg to even get FEMA funds.  And that reversal was only a few days ago (after the PPP polling), while other turndowns for tornados did not get reversed.

Add to all that the White House interference in the gubernatorial contest, the current Dem governor having checked out some time ago, and after ticking off state employees -- the single largest group of employees in the state -- and continued disgruntlement of Dem delegates in 2008 who never even got to cast votes in the abortive convention roll call, etc., and it's a mess for Feingold . . . a mess made in large part by the White House ignoring Wisconsin until it may be too late now.
