on a pet peeve of mine, diarists who do not give enough information in their introduction to allow the reader to place the diary in context.
Unfavorite examples include diaries that begin "I read in the Post today" or "Here in Washington County". What "Post"? Which of the many "Washington Counties"?
Sometimes the information dribbles out three or four paragraphs later, sometimes not.
I often finish one of those diaries thinking "that was nice, I wonder what it was about?"

A few days ago, someone wrote a diary about some guy Smith who accused some guy named Johnson of something. One of them was speaker of the house or lieutenant governor or something in some state. But the diarist didn't give enough information to indicate WTF he was talking about. I read the whole thing and then thought, "Hmm. I wonder who those people are and where they live?"

A while back someone wrote a whole diary about HRC sponsoring some kind of rally about gay rights. As I read it, I wondered why Hillary R. Clinton (HRC) would do this. Isn't she busy with diplomatic stuff? It turns out that there's a group call "Human Rights Campaign" (HRC) that cleverly impersonates our Secretary of State.

I could go on and on. But I won't.
