The Repubs just seem to be going through the motions; their heart doesn't seem to be in the game anymore.  Their constituency, the ubber-rich 1%, already have 90% of the wealth of this country -- buying a railroad or putting another hotel on Baltic Avenue seems pointless:  They've already won the game!

As with the board game, Monopoly, the real-life game of monopoly eventually becomes boring; which is not surprising considering the game's fun is in acquiring wealth, not having it.  "Players" of gone-by eras extended their fun by giving away their riches at the end of their lives, such as Carnegie who built us all those beautiful libraries. Unfortunately, the current crop of ubber-rich can't even be shamed into doing something useful with their riches.  All they do is whine that Democrats want to raise their taxes to match the rate poor people pay.

Obviously, it's time to restart the game -- redistribute the wealth (like FDR did), and let the fun begin again.
