    trying to use the government to serve their own ends.

    And the minimum wage is an issue which most people don't understand.  Most assume, like Dudley, that it is bad for employment rates.

    All the data I've seen shows that a higher minimum wage only increases unemployment among youth, if at all.

    Alternatively, data also tends to show that the relationship between the minimum wage and unemployment is inverse, not direct.  Meaning a high minimum wage is good for employment.  James K. Galbraith's reasoning: it is an incentive for someone to take a job that they otherwise wouldn't because it wouldn't pay enough, and therefore boosts the employment rate.
