  •  True, and Bill Gates and his wife have now (5+ / 0-)

devoted their lives to helping others and giving their money away to worthy charities.

What the Facebook Founder did with his donation to Newark schools, to me, has me respecting him.

    •  Yeah, he'll probably do more too. (0+ / 0-)

He'll live down a stupid movie.

    •  Not Really (4+ / 0-)

Gates is spending his money in charity making more money, and in remaking the world in a way that he couldn't by merely buying companies and labor as a private, profitable corporations.

I'd heard of a study showing that Gates' foundation spends money in Africa mitigating the damage done by local corporate exploitation, which takes the pressure off those local corporations, and which Gates owns a piece of. The research showed that Gates' foundation cuts the cost to the corporations he owns of defending themselves from lawsuits, government backlash and bad publicity, increasing the profits that Gates shares. He's outsourced the dirty corps' whitewashing budget into a charity that can spend PR money without taxation. The scale of the operation is so large that Gates' entire image is now that of philanthropist, though he's an even bigger exploitave capitalist than he was before.

Last month I talked with someone I've known for years who has worked in government serving nonprofits, as has their wife. Their wife now works for a nonprofit entirely funded by the Gates Foundation. He confirmed that indeed the Foundation works that way, including the effects of a lot of the work their wife's nonprofit does.

$BILLIONS buys a lot of brilliant PR, which has always been the stock in trade making William Henry Gates III what he is: one of the top capitalists of all time.
