    It's been a pet peeve of mine, and it seems to be getting worse, not better.

    Part of it, I think, is how it's covered in the media. Almost universally they will say "raising taxes on people making over $250,000" rather than "increasing taxes on earnings above the $250,000 level" or, better yet, "increasing the marginal tax rate on earnings above $250,000".

    It's not that the first is wrong, but it gives a distinct impression that if only you'd earned $249,999 instead $250,001 your tax burden would be incredibly lower, which I think is the impression most people seem to have.

      that the media talk about the Obama tax cuts for the middle class, when really they're tax cuts for everyone.  Whereas the Boehner tax cut is only for the rich.

      The question is not whether the chickens needed replacing, the question is whether the fox should have been guarding them in the first place.
