  •  Huh... when do you turn 55? (8+ / 0-)

    I'm in February.

Actually my virtue has been gone so many decades I wouldn't recognize it if it walked up and smacked me for ditching it all those decades ago.

I think Fish said he'd be back around middle of this week, though I can't swear to it.  And Bob, I figure, is busting his ass on the galleys to his book.  Don't imagine we'll see much of him 'til after publication -- though I'll be delighted to be wrong.

    •  December 17 :) (6+ / 0-)

I am finding it very liberating! I will go through graduation ceremony for my master's on Dec. 18...then off to the FL Keys for Christmas with my family, because I have tortured them with my schooling for the last time. I have no plans to get my PhD, just a class or two here and there to keep up my certification.
I am glad Fish & Bob will be back, I would like especially for Bob, when he has time, to explain out there in TeeVee land about the leak around the well. It's pretty appalling that it just goes on without remark.
Hope you got some sleep - I feel asleep sitting on the couch trying to grade papers. Another part of being almost 55. Very good year, 1955!  :)

      •  Ah, '56 weren't too bad neither. ;) (0+ / 0-)

Sounds like an excellent plan.  And mazel tov on no more schooling.  Must be a huge relief!

What do you teach, and at what level?  And I apologize in advance if I've asked this before... seem to leaking brain cells.

I teach primary-aged students, 2nd grade currently, in a "big urban" district.
Don't worry about leaking brain cells, they grow back...oh wait....
          ;)

          •  Actually, there's new evidence that they do. (0+ / 0-)

            Which I find very reassuring.

I'm thinking of giving some a head start in a couple of petrie dishes so I can add them as needed.  Kinda like blood doping.  Only brain doping.  Wait, that doesn't sound right...

Second grade, big urban district.  Yikes.  Noisy.  Very, very noisy.  ;)

I'll bet you're great at it, though.  And your sense of humor has to come in mighty handy, both on the job and off.
