    was that it means the same taken in it's entirety.

    So, originally, women didn't have the right to vote (among other things.) An amendment fixed that.

    Blacks were slaves. An amendment fixed that.

    It was legal to drink. An amendment fixed that. Then an amendment fixed that amendment.

    I could be reading it wrong...
