I think there are only a few comments yet because nobody can stand this crappy thinking that these people, the teabaggers do--not even long enough to comment on your diary.  It is like falling into a  sewer, if you will, of all the weirdos of the past: the McCarthyites, the anti-intellectuals, the know-nothings, the nativists.  In other words, every crazy extreme that ever hit this country is in some way in this group of people.

I meet a few.  I try so hard not to "know" them because their aims and their logic are skewed toward something dark in the nature of men that we have fought to defend against for as long as good governments have persisted in this country.

Can we lessen their impact?  Maybe.  We must try to live with them and minimize the damage they do or will do.  My best advice is to vote, and to get a well-rounded education so that you do not fall prey to their twists in thinking that carry them so close to the outside edges of being a danger to the future of this great nation.

      •  In my county we're sending targeted mail (3+ / 0-)

to let people know just what these teabaggers really mean when they spout their crap.

While out campaigning they use code words like "smaller government", yet at their teabagger meetings (which are poorly attended by the way, two of their 8 attendees are our plants) they come right out and say what they mean, like stopping funding to our county's public libraries.

So we're sending out glossy postcards to the voters of that county commissioner district to let people know that the teabagger candidate has stated in a public forum that if elected he intends to close our county's public libraries to cut the budget... even though our county budget is not only balanced, but actually carries a surplus.

    •  because in the end, (9+ / 0-)

nothing is really new under the sun.

cycles of crazies, some times less worse than others.  but then it starts up again.

we are experiencing a bad cycle, for sure.

When you read something like this, often you've just got to sit back and absorb it and the ramifications of it before you can come up with anything at all to say other than "OMG OMG OMG...." followed by banging your head on the floor.

It's like trying to follow the thinking of someone who is clinically insane. It's not really a good idea to do so, but someone has to in order to help others keep from being consumed by the same madness.

    •  One thing we can do is what mama jo did (8+ / 0-)

and never let one of these crazy ass emails go ignored and unanswered and always hit reply all. Another thing is when someone starts spouting this stuff is call it out for what it is, laughably crazy.

IMO, that's how we got here, our media has allowed anything to be said, no matter how insane, and has given it credence. It makes me throw things at the TV when I see some nutcase teabagger droning on and no one says "that's nuts!"
