Jewish towns are not bulldozed to oblivian... Bedouin villages are... (for example)

It's like the opening scene in Cry Freedom where the shantytown is bulldozed to make way for "development".

    •  Sad reality (9+ / 0-)

People tend to forget fast, but this travesty is quite recent:
Flattening the Bedouin Village of al-Arakib

On July 26, 2010 Israeli police armed with tear gas, a water canon, and two helicopters forced the 200 Bedouin residents of the southern Israeli village of al-Arakib out of their homes. Most of the furniture was then removed from the 45 buildings of the village and bulldozers used to flattened the buildings. It is to be noted that the victims of this act are not residents of the Occupied Territories. They are non-Jewish citizens of the state of Israel.

      •  remember, Israel is a victim (8+ / 0-)

even the diary forgets that the actual victim here is not Israel's image, but the Palestinian people... no quotes from them... it is as if they don't exist.

MK Ahmad Tibi (United Arab List-Ta'al) commented on Netanyahu's announcement, saying that the premier's decision "to force citizens to pledge allegiance to a Jewish Israel is a political decision rather that one of leadership".

"It is meant to cement the Arabs' inferior class status by law. No amendment will be able to negate the Palestinian narrative, which has been recognized worldwide."

Hadash Chairman Mohammad Barakeh said, "Netanyahu has decided to singlehandedly open racist legislation season. The amendment is racist, and it will likely get the majority it needs via the two 'best men' – Lieberman and Barak.

"We've long been saying that the Israeli law has become the guide to the world's most sinister regimes."

Arab civilians were irked by the decision, warning of a dangerous snowball effect: "It's time that the government says what it thinks of us Arabs – are we equal citizens or bad ones?" said Nazareth resident Maison Jaraisi.

Jaraisi, a nurse, claimed Israeli law was racist in nature. "Unfortunately, we are already accustomed to discriminatory legislation. I always read about the solidarity on the Israeli street toward refugees from Darfur, and I call on the same people – we need you today in order to build a mutual future that is healthier than the one the government has in the works," she said.

Al-Latif added that "loyalty is not guaranteed by law, but by conduct. The Arabs have proven their loyalty to their Israeli citizenship throughout the years, and want to be part of Israeli politics and economy. This law will push us aside," he lamented.

          this:

even the diary forgets that the actual victim here is not Israel's image, but the Palestinian people

is your typical assinine commentary. I don't care about image here you fool, I care about the way non-Jews are treated in Israel and what as a Zionist this does towards destroying something I care a great deal about.

I think as a Jew I have a responsibility to recognize other people as citizens of Israel and treat them fairly. So... please spare me your bullshit and I am going to toss you a hearty f&%#-off for being a jackass and accusing me of only caring about "image". You know, I didn't realize I could have less respect for you than I have but hey, you know what... I do. Imagine that.

          I'm not a little giant... I'm a freakin' leprechaun
