... but when You let the ire and contempt that You have take over Your humanity, You risk becoming that which You despise -- imo

my thought on this Crannick thing was "You get what You pay for" -- which is the same response i give to my friends and family back in Canuckistan should they ever piss and moan about taxation

so, Yes, the "lower my taxes" types have done this to themselves -- but that works good as a theoretical political science argument (one which i agree in sorts), but it is another altogether when it has REAL world impact on these same people -- progressive ideals are there to defend even those that oppose them!

Progressive ideals defend people who oppose them.... up to a point.

That point is where the people who oppose them have taken control of the government (as they have in this county) and refused to pay taxes for their own public services.

It is not the responsibility of the neighboring city to bail out the cheapskate deadbeats in the county.  In fact, if they keep doing so -- as they have done for 20 years -- the city will probably go bankrupt and the cheapskates will laugh all the way to the bank.

Great "triumph" for progressivism when that happens, I suppose.  I don't think so.

things) websites (such as CNN) that allow discussion on this topic, there seems to be a lot of "wow, the libertarian paradise might not be paradise after all but rather it's a Dickens-like Medivial England" sentiment.

So, in the bigger picture this whole story seems to have at least opened a debate that this country should be having . .. .

Which I'll probably stay out of mostly, since as you and others have observed, I mostly come across as an ass.

But I'm totally un-reedemably scarred by living in rural Buttfuckville USA (again very ironically named since if you're not willing to engage in copious and gratiutous gay bashing, you're ostracized) for too long.  So I should probably STFU ASAP on this!

Anyways, thanks for the civil response!
