  •  We know lots about this man. (1+ / 0-)

I followed the news reports carefully.

He set fires and left them unattended.  He "forget" to pay his fee once before and got fire service anyway.  The city calls you up personally if you don't pay the fee, and he refused to pay at that time.

We know exactly what this man is like.  Sorry.

right up to the moment I was watching his interview with Keith Olberman and he reported that a year or two before a close relative was in the same situation (i.e., s/he did not pay, but the fire department responded anyways).

And this guy learned nothing from that!  He gambled again!!

Seriously, I think everybody deserves a second chance (for most things, I'm not sure if I extend such generosity to cheerleader/enablers of the Iraq War, for example) - but when you refuse to learn from the first go-round, I'm really, really struggling to generate any sympathy whatsoever.

      •  I pretty much agree with you there. (1+ / 0-)

Everyone does deserve a second chance.  But we cannot afford to give infinite chances.  (As for the architects of the Iraq War, their first chance was Vietnam in most cases, so....)
