...looks a lot like a beaver meadow.  Was it?

We live on the west side of the Green Mountains, but still get great night skies.  How far away is your telescope?

it is in the Nebraska notch, near Taylor lodge between Bolton and Mansfield.

It took about 6 hours to get up to the trailhead from where I live. When I have the time and the weather cooperates I take the telescope down a ways south of Syracuse up on a mountain. It's not too far, and the sky isn't bad, though you still get some light from the city.

Heh. I was just wondering if you saw any beaver lodges on it.  I know enough places to find easier access beaver meadows that I'll probably skip seeking this one out until sometime next year.

I can tell by looking at your lovely photos that I won't be able to make it to those summits yet.  It was also great to get another perspective on the Green Mountains, as I live in a valley and only make it into the mountains when I have to drive somewhere.  Hopefully next year, that will change.

Glad to hear you have local opportunities to use your telescope.  I have the location, just not the telescope yet.
