  •  It's a long, tough read... (none)
It took me about 6 months to finished reading this book because it's so intense on a philosophical level. I've just started reading it for the second time and it's not much different, just to warn anyone who decides to tackle it.

It's worth the effort though. I read this and The Fountainhead (which is a slightly shorter novel but still pretty rough) back to back and it took about a year and a half, and I came out of each with a clearer sense of where I was heading as a person.

    •  'Atlas' is a great intro to Libertarian thought (none)

    •  Ditto on the warts (none)
It's a long, dry, dull read.

Basically 500 pages too much on the concept of "Every man for himself - pull yourself up by your bootstraps -- trust no one".

      •  I found 'Atlas' fun, tho (none)
Altho i haven't read it in years. It really appealed to me in my teenage days. A bit later I started realizing how callous it was, and how ignorant of the basic needs and construction of human society...and I took it for a pulp novel, just a rollicking good read.

Don't know what I'd think about it now.
