Yes, more than a few of them. See my response below.

And IMO they make the best living history interpreters. Because there's no romanticization when explaining to the public what it would have been like to be on the field at, say Culloden, when they've seen the modern equivalent.

Some people like vanilla, some people like chocolate. You think my words are "fairly silly". I think adults who play dress up to memorialize war are at least "fairly silly".
Please allow me to refer you to the comment downthread that I think expresses it pretty well.
The combat vets I know do dress up in the funny little hats of veterans organizations to do service to their communities and their fellow vets. Many spend countless hours volunteering at VA hospitals. They've got no time, energy, or interest for play acting.

I admit my experience with the hobby isn't universal. But I am speaking from some measure knowledge on the subject. You're speaking from a position of total ignorance, and a lot of presumptions. That's also silly.

"Play acting" may be what this Republican loon does with his fetish group. But the living history hobby is about historical research and education, even if from an amateur level (though some of my friends are published on the subject). To describe it as "play acting" is infantile.

You seem like the sort of person who considers any activities outside of those in which he indulges to be utterly frivolous. Well, all me to put on my space science day job hat on for a moment to point out that when Copernicus demolished the geocentric model of the universe, he at the same time made short work of the egocentric one as well.
