I never do.  I judge a post on its merits alone.  I didn't tip because I didn't think the diary was all that worthy.  But aside from that, you cannot deny that people are upset, bewildered and disappointed.  No amount of pointing out what great things you think the administration has done is going to change their minds.  If things are so great, you would not need to knock yourself out pointing these things out.  That's just the way it is.  Most Americans are simply not seeing any change.  They are seeing their lives deteriorate.  You cannot talk them out of thinking that way.  They are living it.  This conversation is worth having even if the diarist has less than perfect credentials.

"No amount of pointing out what great things you think the administration has done is going to change their minds."

Then why are we here?  Why engage in politics at all?

"If things are so great, you would not need to knock yourself out pointing these things out."

So things are no better than they were?
To listen to you people talk, since Bush sank the economy and Obama did not instantly levitate it out of the swamp using his jedi mental powers, we might as well not even have the goddamn election.

      See above.

The conversation is worth having AFTER the election.  Which part of winning the hearts and minds do you not understand?  Things are not coming along as quickly as we would like, but if we do not win this election, it will be much much worse.  So, let's round up the kitties, get them fired up, and then work on getting out the vote.  This thing we do here where we say it it hopeless and our candidate is not as progressive as we would like is kind of self-defeating and pointless.
