      change is teaching kindergardeners about Columbus, the Pilgrims, etc., at all.

      I don't think five-year-olds are equipped to deal with the historical reality of invasion and genocide.   We first learned of the Trail of Tears as fourth graders, for example.  It might be better to skip the whole First Thanksgiving myth entirely.  Then we wouldn't be betraying kids by giving them a sanitized version.
